A Peer-to-peer Search Engine

چکیده
As the number of documents on the Web grows into the billions, the proportion of those documents available through indexing search engines shrinks.1,2 The amount of content available through the “hidden web” of searchable online databases might be 400 times larger.3 Application servers and network-enabled business systems have the potential to increase this content by many more orders of magnitude, and the growth of peer-to-peer networks, such as JXTA,4 promises even more. The JXTA Search discovery and access model exposes content unavailable through traditional indexing and caching search engines using a query routing protocol (QRP) for distributed information retrieval. JXTA Search is programming language, platform, and network transport independent, and occupies a middle ground between the decentralized Gnutella and centralized Napster geometries. In this article, we review search problems addressed by JXTA Search and summarize services necessary for implementation. Other works describe JXTA Search in detail and compare it to other approaches. 5,6

A Review on the Editorial Peer Review
Background and Objectives: The editorial peer review has an important role in the publication of scientific articles. Peers or reviewers are those scholars who have the expertise regarding the topic of a given article. They critically appraise the articles without having any monetary incentives or conflicts of interest. The aim of this study was to determine the most important aspects of the ed...
متن کاملPeer-to-Peer Semantic Search Engine
Peer-to-Peer is a relatively old but still an evolving branch of web technologies. This article gives a survey of Peer-to-Peer characteristics and their relationship to requirements usually set upon Peerto-Peer systems. From this analysis flows the idea of building a three-layer Peer-to-Peer semantic search engine.
متن کاملSEARCH ENGINE IN LARGE - SCALE PEER - TO - PEER SYSTEMS by AKSHAY LAL
LAL, AKSHAY. Dgoogle: A Full-Text Search Engine in Large-Scale Peer-to-Peer Systems. (Under the direction of Professor Khaled Harfoush). Full-text search engines like Google serve an important role in accessing Internet resources. In such engines, a search for web pages, matching a user’ s query, are typically carried on a set of co-administered, physically co-located clusters of servers. Full-...
متن کاملThe ALVIS Document Model for a Semantic Search Engine
ALVIS researches the design, use and interoperability of topic-specific search engines with the goal of developing an open source prototype of a peer-to-peer, semantic-based search engine. Our approach is not the traditional Semantic Web approach with coded meta-data, but rather an engine that can build on content through semi-automatic analysis. This paper describes the ALVIS document processi...
متن کاملIs P2P a Suitable Architecture for Large-Scale Web Search?
In this note we discuss the feasibility of a peer-to-peer based infrastructure for large-scale web search that could provide an alternative to current centralized engines such as Google. We first outline the structure and performance bottlenecks of current search engines, and then discuss how to construct a peer-to-peer based engine. Our contention is that for the time being, a peer-to-peer sol...
متن کاملALVIS: Superpeer Semantic Search Engine
Alvis is a research project in the design, use and interoperability of topic-specific search engines with the goal of developing an open source prototype of a peer-to-peer, semantic-based search engine. Existing search engines provide poor foundations for semanticbased web operations, and are becoming monopolies, distorting the entire information landscape. Our approach is not the traditional S...
